Castle Rock’s Talent Attracts Business

While there are many great reasons to start or locate a business in Castle Rock, CO, one of the strongest is the pool of well-educated residents who call the town home. Castle Rock’s small-town atmosphere, access to big city amenities and abundant recreation opportunities make it a desirable home town for highly educated, well-trained professionals.

Castle Rock is a growing community located in the south Denver metropolitan area on the I-25 corridor. It offers easy access to nearby Denver to the north and Colorado Springs to the south.  For more than 20 years, Castle Rock has rated as one of the best places to live and start a business in Colorado.

The town is also home to Miller’s Landing, an innovative 65-acre mixed use development in the heart of Castle Rock. When completed, Miller’s Landing will offer a walkable town center with retail and restaurant options supported by a mix of modern offices, a resort hotel and spa, residential units and ample open space.

The unique mix of business and entertainment options that will be found at Miller’s Landing make it the top spot to locate a corporate headquarters or satellite office in the Denver area.

A Well-Educated Population

According to the Castle Rock Economic Development Council (EDC), Castle Rock has one of the best educated populations in the U.S. A large percentage of town residents have college or post-secondary training.

  • 58 percent have a college degree
  • 18 percent hold a post-graduate degree

The Denver area ranks seventh for technology talent in CBRE’s 2020 Scoring Tech Talent report.

Nearly 80 percent of Castle Rock residents commute out of town for work, either to nearby Denver or Colorado Springs. Yet a 2017 analysis by the National Association of Realtors® found that 62 percent of Millennials and 55 percent of the Silent Generation would prefer local jobs with short commutes.

A Community on the Rise

The recent Denver Post article “A City on the Rise” outlines the important role Miller’s Landing will play providing local jobs. Castle Rock is expected to grow to 140,000 residents once it is fully built out.

To ensure local residents have the talents necessary to compete in the modern business world, Arapahoe Community College’s Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock offers business and technology education in conjunction with Colorado State University. The school offers associate’s and bachelor’s degrees.
