Douglas County Named One of the Healthiest Counties in U.S.
For the second year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has named Douglas County, CO, the second healthiest county in the nation, further cementing its reputation as one of the best places to live in the country.
Los Alamos County, NM, ranked as the top healthiest county in the U.S., the second year it has received the number one spot.
U.S. News assessed nearly 3,000 county and county equivalents in the U.S. in 84 metrics across 10 key categories, including population health, public safety, equity, food and nutrition, and infrastructure. The publication gave Douglas County an overall score of 99.

County Receives High Marks from Citizens
The recent 2021 Citizens Survey asked Douglas County residents how they feel about living in the county. Their responses show that the majority of residents view the area as a desirable place to live. The survey covered a wide range of topics, from traffic and road maintenance to law enforcement, open space and the business environment.
The high ratings are just some of the reasons Douglas County consistently ranks as one of the best places to live and start a business in Colorado.
