Castle Rock Supports Active Cultural Environment

Beautiful sunny weather, outstanding outdoor recreation, excellent schools and small-town charm, all make Castle Rock, CO, one of the best places to live in the U.S. Add to this the community’s active and well-supported cultural environment and it becomes apparent why Castle Rock is regularly ranked as one of the best communities to live and work in the country.

These reasons, along with the town’s unrivaled business opportunities, are just some of the reasons why Miller’s Landing is the top spot to locate your business in Colorado. Miller’s Landing is a new, 65-acre commercial development in the heart of Castle Rock. It mixes the excitement of a dynamic, pedestrian-friendly town square with modern offices, a resort hotel and spa, conference and meeting facilities and plenty of open space. Miller’s Landing also offers easy access via bike or walking to downtown Castle Rock and the region’s top outdoor recreation park.

Castle Rock is a popular and growing town in the south Denver metropolitan area. Located on the I-25 corridor, it offers small-town charm, close proximity to Denver and Colorado Springs, access to good jobs, an abundance of outdoor recreation options and easy access to the mountains.

Cultural Activities Abound

Once a small, sleepy western town, today Castle Rock is home to 75,000 residents and it continues to grow. One of the reasons for that growth, and the town’s reputation as one of the best places to live in the state, is its year-round schedule of cultural events that draw people from all over the Denver metropolitan area.

Local residents understand that the arts play an important role in maintaining the quality of life in the community. While most art and cultural activities are on hiatus as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many are slated to return once life gets back to normal.

One of the leading events is the annual Castle Rock ArtFest. Organized by the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce, ArtFest is held downtown on the weekend after Labor Day. It is the largest cultural event in Castle Rock and admission is free. ArtFest draws nearly 26,000 visitors over the course of a weekend. It includes a juried art show that attracts more than 180 artists and exhibitors from throughout the country along with live music, food vendors and a kids’ zone complete with crafts and games.

Another leading event is the annual Castle Rock WineFest. Like ArtFest, WineFest is organized by the Chamber of Commerce. Held the third weekend of July, the event draws more than two dozen wineries from throughout Colorado and features more than 180 varieties of Colorado wine. It includes wine seminars, tastings, cooking demonstrations, food trucks, live music and dancing. For beer lovers, WineFest also includes a beer garden that features beer from local breweries.

Public art is also alive and well in Castle Rock and the surrounding area. Art Encounters, sponsored by the Douglas County Cultural Council, promotes public interest in art. The year-long outdoor art exhibit features sculptures on display in Castle Rock and the nearby communities of Highlands Ranch, Parker and Roxborough. The program has features work from prominent artists since 2008.

For music lovers, the First Fridays program features live music, food trucks, kid’s activities and cocktails. The event is held the first Friday of every month from July through September in downtown Castle Rock’s Festival Park.

The Castle Rock Summer Concert series brings leading performers to the amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. The venue is noted as one of the best live music venues in Colorado. Past performers have included Michael McDonald, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the Fray and the Colorado Symphony.
