Ideally Located

Castle Rock is located between Denver and Colorado Springs on the I-25 corridor. The distance from Castle Rock to downtown Denver is only 30 miles, about 25 minutes by car. Colorado Springs is 40 miles to the south. Transportation options include Denver International Airport and the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, both about 45 minutes by car along with general and business aviation at nearby Centennial Airport.

Attractive Amenities

Castle Rock real estate options range from historic 100-year-old homes to new housing developments and rural properties outside of town. The median price for a single-family home is $397,500, with housing ranging from $200,000 to $5 million or more.

Castle Rock’s schools are part of the Douglas County School District, one of the state’s leading districts. The school district offers open enrollment, charter schools, magnet schools, instruction for gifted and talented students, advanced placement courses and an International Baccalaureate program.

It continually exceeds state averages in every grade and subject along with outperforming other districts on the Colorado Student Assessment Program. The district also has one of the lowest dropout rates in Colorado.

Higher education options are readily available as well. The Arapahoe Community College Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock offers associate’s degrees in technology, health and business along with two bachelor’s degrees from Colorado State University. A number of leading public and private universities are also found in Denver and Colorado Springs including CU Denver, Metropolitan State University, Denver University, Regis University, CU Colorado Springs and Colorado College.

The Philip S. Miller Public Library in Castle Rock offers a comprehensive selection of business publications and online databases. This facility is open seven days a week and receives more than 30,000 visitors per month.

Healthcare is provided by several local group medical practices along with specialists and dentists. Hospitals include the 50-bed Castle Rock Adventist Hospital and nearby UC Health Highlands Ranch Hospital and Sky Ridge Medical Center, which also operates an imaging center and medical offices in town.

An Outdoor Recreation Mecca

Outdoor recreation is one of the key attractions for living in Castle Rock. The town has a wealth of options including 5,475 acres of designated open space, 44 miles of walking and biking trails with an additional 50 miles planned and 400 acres of state parks, canyons and buttes for hiking, climbing and exploring.

Castle Rock also has 20 parks. This includes the 300-acre Philip S. Miller Park with its nearly eight miles of interconnected trails, 10 zip lines, a 200-step challenge hill and a towering 40-foot climbing wall. The park is within easy walking distance of Miller’s Landing.

The annual Elephant Rock bike ride and festival draws nearly 7,000 riders who can choose from five rides ranging from an eight-mile family ride to a challenging 100-mile century course. The event started more than 30 years ago and offers beautiful and scenic courses that travel through the horse country east of town and the Black Forest to the south. All rides begin and end at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock. It’s a favorite early season event for many local bicyclists.

Castle Rock has also been ranked as a Top 10 Best Golfing Community by Livavility.com, with courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye.

Culture and the Arts Thrive

The town has a thriving arts and cultural community as well. The Labor Day Arts Fest draws 180 artists from throughout the country. Nearly 26,000 people visit the family-oriented event for its enticing mix of art, music, dance and food and wine. The town is also home to live theater, museums and an art guild.
